Matrix Comics: Get It? (Vol. 1, No. 8)

Story & Art by Peter Bagge
Based on Concepts by the Wachowskis

Plot

People exit a movie theater after having seen The Matrix. Two younger guys say it's the best movie they've seen; an older guy with glasses named Johnny says he didn't get it. The younger guys are dumbfounded that anyone could not get the first movie, but alas, the older guy was confused the entire time.

They all go to the bar, the younger guys buy him a beer. They try to explain the entire movie, but the way they explain it makes it sound far-fetched, such as the logic that the reason we can't see any machines during the entire movie is because they have taken over the world.

They finally finish their beers, and Johnny still can't figure out how people "travel through phone lines." The younger guys finally give up, the guy leaves the bar, and literally everyone else in the bar (including the younger guys) are relieved to hear that Johnny doesn't get it. Everyone in the entire bar has agent earplugs - Johnny is one less guy they have to kill.

Comments

At one point, Johnny asks if Keanu Reeves was dreaming in the beginning of the movie, or if the rest of the movie was a dream? For more on this, see Comics Vol. 1-6: Butterfly.
